For the first time, the Class of 1990 has lost one of our own. Mike Fawell passed away August 29th, 2011 after a fight for his life following a cycling accident. He was out riding down a road near his home in Richmond, Virginia when a car pulled out and struck Mike. He flew over the car & suffered serious head injuries that led to several days in critical condition in the neural ICU. Mike passed peacefully & painlessly early Monday morning. He is survived by his wife Lara, and his young children Cambelle and Luke. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers in this extremely difficult time. There are few words that can express what they are going through right now. From every indication, Mike was an amazing father and husband, and his loss to the family is truly heartbreaking.
Mike is remembered for the strength in his character, his sense of humor, his smile, his faith in God, and his friendship. While he was renowned in the cycling community and passionate about bicycling, we still probably remember him best as a great athlete out on the track or the football field. We will all miss you #87, say 'hi' to Coach for us.
The Class of 1990 is donating $100 to the family, and we ask you to consider adding to the fund in tribute to Mike.
